Me being me.....
Friday, October 03, 2008

Just when I thought I managed to break the curse of being me (considering that it has been relatively uneventful - by my standards- since I got here)......................

My bag got flooded.

On the day I decided to bring my laptop to school.

~!)*%#)@@^#~*@^~!

Like SERIOUSLY!!!

You have to understand this: People over here DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT, bring laptops to school (I think its coz the sch is not wireless). The only reason I brought my laptop to school is coz my prof said that he had ALOT of reading materials to transfer to us and I didnt bring a thumbdrive with me to Rome. So I figured I wld just bring my laptop and directly copy them to my computer (but in the end, he said he will upload them up on the sch website and we can download them frm there *GIAN*)

Its a miracle that my computer escaped unharmed given my luck.

However the same can't really be said for my hp. Initially my hp was safely kept in another smaller component of my bag (that was luckily high up enough not to be drowned in the pool of water). So as I was pouring out the water, I told myself to be REAL CAREFULLY. But the next thing I know, my hp slipped out of the component and right into of the cascading path of water coming out of my bag.

Thankfully the phone still works BUT the screen doesnt light up as brightly as it used to....

Sigh......

I know... I know.... I promise to TRY to blog more often...

So sch officially started this week...................

Had my first day of classes yesterday and the professors seem nice enough.....

Its just that I stick out like a sore thumb in class coz of my yellow (and under-tanned - when compared to the Italians) skin. I am like a sitting duck out in the open lake during hunting season. Just shoot me.

This = looking super attentive in class AT ALL TIMES / no dozing off

Plus I don't think I have ever heard the word "Singapore" brought up so many times in the course of 24hrs and used in varying context.

Example one:
"Ah and Singapore! Although a small, small nation, it has very high PPP *proceeds to look at me and I have to beamingly nod back to show some national pride*"

Example two:
"Singapore! Do you know what this is?"

This is like only ONE class that the professors didn't mention the word "Singapore" - and thats because there were like 6 other China exchange students and I sat among them. Go figure.

And as far as making friends with the Italians in my classes go, I had the best luck today for my last class (which was a 5hr wait frm my previous class :s but I have to say it was well-worth the wait *grin*). One of the Italian girls actually came up to me during breaktime and excitedly said that she was in Singapore this summer (April-August) doing an internship. And the funniest thing was she stayed at tanah merah!!! LOL! What are the odds sia.....

Then the girl who sat next to me after the break was super nice and friendly too. She translated for me a joke that the prof made in Italian so that I wldn't be left-out without me asking her to(although I forgot immediately what the joke was after she translated).

Then at the bus-stop (after class), one of my classmates came up to talk to me. He encouraged me to practice my Italian with him after I told him that my Italian was horrible and that I needed loads of practice. I said some stuff in Italian to him and he told me (face deadpanned) that I indeed needed alot of practice.

I am determined to be able to converse fluently with my classmates in Italian at the end of my exchange!!!!!

I hope my luck keeps up coz it does feel nice to have people talking to you instead of just staring at you weirdly when you walk by (it doesn't help that my complexion is like shit now coz of the dust in Rome - not good for my self-confidence you know).

P.S. I do have photos to post BUT I still havent found a way to upload them onto my computer. Maybe, hopefully, by the end of this month? *cross fingers*

Rome is....... hot and brown
Monday, September 08, 2008

Ciao!!!

This is the first time since I got to Rome that I have internet access in my room (YAY for me)!!!

BUT (there is always a BUT) there is hardly anyone online to chat with :(

Oh wells....

Went to the city centre just yesterday to see the ruins. That combine with the hot weather (which = to brown grass), makes Rome look............. brown.

Like brown walls, brown grass, brown pavement. Even the cars here are like covered in a layer of brown dust.

Maybe it will get alittle more colourful when the weather cools.... BUT then again, it will be autumn and thats when all the leaves on the trees are suppose to turn brown and fall off :s

I would post up some pics of my room BUT I smartly forgot to bring (among other things) my memory card reader... Will just have to go find someone with a built-in one on their lappy for help...

Anyway till the next blog entry then! Ciao raggazi!

One of those days....
Thursday, August 07, 2008

I totally sabotaged myself today.

Went down to the Italian Embassy to get my visa application settled. Was extremely happy and proud of myself that I managed to get the application right in one trip (like almost all the others applying were short of some documents on their first trip). So I merrily handed over my passport for them to process and give me my visa next week.

Then I realised (after over an hr later): I am suppose to leave for a dive trip to Redang this Friday - i.e. TOMORROW. How am I suppose to go to Malaysia WITHOUT a passport??!!@^$()@&@!!

Just shoot me.

Going diving once again...
Monday, April 28, 2008

Well school's out for the summer......

And if all things go well, i will be in Rome, Italy later part of this year!!! (WOOHOO)

All determination and resolution to persevere and make sure I do not screw up my finals (and my final grade) for my mods faded away when I got the email that offered me the exchange position in Rome... (my willpower is terrible but secretly it offered me the excuse to slack :( I am so sabotaging myself)

Anyway, went to Dayang for my first dive trip of the year over the weekend. It's times like these that I wished my family was super wealthy so that I would be able to just jet off and go dive at exotic locations (with my own entire set of gear) coz after the Dayang trip, I am just itching for another dive trip to some new place. Ah wells............ I guess it will just make the experience alot more sweeter when I eventually get to go!

Here are the pictures I managed to take with my new canon power shot digital camera mummy got for me for my birthday *grin* (none underwater ones unfortunately coz I don't have an underwater casing for my cam...... yet....)

Birthdays and what they mean.....
Monday, February 25, 2008

According to Facebook, based on my birthday, this is the kind of person I am:

You are very optimistic and that's why you always enjoy life. You are gifted in entertaining others. Your friends love and trust you. You'll be the first they come to when they are in need of someone to speak their heart out. Your Love, Sometimes you fall in love just because you want to be in love, not that you really like that person. You always be seen as a sweet couple but you can't really get over your love ones from past. Your partner is usually crazy about you because you are remarkably charming and romantic.

LOL well friends, I LOVE YOU GUYS TOO!!!!!!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.....

It was truly a day well-spent with family and friends.... *feeling the love*
